Holiday with mY Generation
December 25, 2009 by Miki Saxon
Merry Christmas!
I hope you’re in your jammies, sipping mimosas or good coffee, knee deep in wrapping paper and that Santa was good to you.
Since there are just four days left of Leadership Turn I thought you might enjoy seeing another feature you’ll be able to enjoy at MAPping Company Success.
mY generation is a comic series drawn by Jim Gordon, who graduated this year and is working in his first job. His quirky sense of humor will make you smile and his provocative viewpoint will make you think.
Since mY generation runs on Sundays you’ll receive it, as well as Quotable Quotes, …read more
It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Santa…
December 24, 2009 by Miki Saxon
Today is the last Leadership’s Future post in 2009, but the feature will continue every Thursday at MAPping Company Success (to avoid missing it subscribe via RSS or EMAIL). Please click to read today’s Leadership’s Future.
‘Twas the day before Christmas I sat down to write,
but nothing came—writer’s block was my plight.
A video was the answer I thought with a sigh
and clicked over to YouTube to give it a try.
I found what I wanted as you will see,
plus you can follow tonight by using this key!
Track Santa here or go mobile!

A 4 F (family, friends, football, food) Day
November 27, 2009 by Miki Saxon
Yesterday was a dream come true—
or maybe a nightmare made just for you.
I hope ’twas the former, but just in case
remember that distance will help erase
the rudeness, the snipes, the downright bad manners
and before next year you can call the enchanters!
Now the turkey is gone, the year, too, almost
and I don’t really feel like doing this post,
so I’ll close with this thought for all my readers—
come back next week for more about leaders:)

The Scariest Halloween Costume
October 31, 2009 by Miki Saxon
All my life I’ve written rhymes for certain days and special events or people. Last Halloween I wrote Scary Times Require Rhymes for Leadership Turn and A Halloween Economy at MAPping Company Success.
I’m always surprised when I go back, read one and it doesn’t make me run screaming from the screen.
So, here is Halloween 2009 for your reading pleasure. I hope you enjoy it, because I had a lot of fun writing it.
Are you attending a party tonight
wearing a costume that inspires fright?
Halloween’s a night for spooks,
for witches, demons and other kooks;
vampires, werewolves, serial killers and more—
all those types who …read more
Quotable Quotes: Boomer Marching Music
August 2, 2009 by Miki Saxon
Yesterday I offered up links that explored what’s happening currently with the more than 70 million Americans known far and wide as Boomers.
Their effect would have been substantial based on numbers alone, but add in enough attitude to power a rocket to Mars and it has been/still is/will be inescapable.
Still being in a quasi-nostalgic mood this Sunday, I thought I’d share with you the Battle Hymn of the Baby Boomers.
Those of you born after 1964 would do well to accept that the Boomers aren’t going to go away any time soon—nor are they going to sit quietly in a corner …read more
Quotable Quotes: All About Nonsense
June 7, 2009 by Miki Saxon
Have you ever noticed how boring being a responsible adult is at times?
I don’t know what you do to break out of that, but I’m partial to nonsense.
I still read Dr. Seuss out loud; play silly games with my cats; write corny rhymes and sometimes post them on my blog as I did here and here.
But nonsense has a serious purpose in life, too.
“Nonsense is an assertion of man’s spiritual freedom in spite of all the oppressions of circumstance” –Aldous Huxley
“Nonsense is to sense, as shade to light; it heightens effect” –Frederick Saunders
“Nonsense is so good only because common sense …read more
Memorial Day 3109
May 25, 2009 by Miki Saxon
I had a thought this morning and asked Jim Gordon, who draws mY generation, the Sunday comic on my other blog, to draw my thoughts for today.
He did a great job; I only wish I believed that it would happen sooner.

Quotable Quotes: It’s My Birthday!
April 26, 2009 by Miki Saxon
Happy birthday to me; happy birthday to me, etc. etc. etc.
I thought I’d write a rhyme in honor of the anniversary of my birth and share it with you. Not a poem, I can’t write poetry, but I do write rhymes (some better than others:) So without more ado…
It’s my birthday and I’m not shy
shouting the news to the birds in the sky.
That’s the way I approach my life
because increasing years should not add strife!
I wouldn’t go back as an awkward teen,
with raging hormones and pimples seen;
back then I believed I could take wing
because I knew most everything.
I entered my …read more
Wordless Wednesday: Innovation Culture
January 14, 2009 by Miki Saxon
My regular readers know that normally Wordless Wednesday is truly wordless, but all good rules have exceptions and flexibility is a virtue.
The video is a great example of how an innovative combination of socially unacceptable food and a culture of exceptional customer care turned a restaurant into a destination and a major hit with people who aren’t intimidated by the food police. Heart Attack Grill here we come! (Good grief, a reason to go to Chandler, Ariz.)

That’s innovation you can eat, now for innovation you can drive.
Honda has a culture that’s known to not just tolerate failure, …read more
