de Bono’s Intelligance Trap
February 19, 2006 by admin
Edward de Bono writes on his blog that there is an Intelligence Trap.
Where intelligent managers fall into the trap of being able to defend their logic, and therefore are unable to consider different points of view.
de Bono also states:
The less intelligent person is less sure of his or her rightness and therefore more free to explore the subject and other points of view.
I am not sure whether this makes me more or less intelligent, but I can’t help be a little offended by de Bono’s assertion. I think I am reasonably intelligent, but I also think I am capable of considering all points of view – and changing my mind.
Maybe I am not one of the many de Bono refers to, or maybe I am not as smart as I think I am?
