Is your boss programmed to be a dictator?

I pondered the question recently whether leadership was something that could be learned or was innate?

A commentator pointed me to Change This, which has a fairly lengthy article that discusses who leaders in the workplace are programmed to be dictators.

I think my favourite quote was along the lines of “no one voted their boss into the corner office”.

For me the real question is what is more effective.

Democratisation of the work force and empowering employees is something we hear a lot about, but it still seems that those managers who employ the dictatorial approach seem to do the best career wise.
