It’s A Remarkable Day
Regular visitors to the Turn will know that I have been talking about Kevin Eikenberry’s new book, “Remarkable Leadership” for some time; in fact anybody that knows anything about leadership has been talking about it – and finally the big day is here at last: I requested special permission from my great editor Doug Hanna to return for one post, so that I could be part of this “Remarkable” day.
Once in a while a leadership guru comes along; not often; there are plenty of people who proclaim to know a lot about the subject; some even write blogs about it :-) But believe me, this guy is the real deal.
“Remarkable Leadership” is quite possibly the most innovative, refreshing and insightful piece of work I have ever read on the subject – it is a “must read” for anyone who aspires to lead others.
Here is what Kevin has to say:
“Having trained, coached and consulted with thousands people from around the world, I’ve learned a few things:
• Leadership isn’t defined by a job title; we all lead.
• We all have the potential to become remarkable leaders, once we believe it is possible.
• To get to remarkable we all have things to learn, regardless of our natural gifts.
• As we become better leaders we become better humans.
• Leadership is our birthright. We all have the opportunity to make a difference in the world as a leader.”
“What is a Remarkable Leader?”
“This book describes thirteen competencies – or skill sets – that are at the heart of being a remarkable leader:
• Learning continually
• Championing change
• Communicating powerfully
• Building relationships
• Developing others
• Focusing on customers
• Influencing with impact
• Thinking and Acting innovatively
• Valuing collaboration and teamwork
• Solving problems and making decisions
• Taking responsibility and accountability
• Managing projects and processes successfully
• Setting goals and supporting goal achievement
As you get better at any one of these skills, you will become more effective. When you have a plan and the tools to intelligently improve on all these competencies you can become remarkable.
Using the materials (both in the book and beyond) you will benefit in hundreds of ways. Here is just a sampling of how this book can make a difference for you and those you lead. With the help of Remarkable Leadership you will be able to:
• Reflect on your past successes so you can build on them.
• Pace yourself and build a plan that works for you.
• Be a continual learner – consciously and effectively learning every day.
• Make learning and personal development fun.
• Create a vision for the future and effectively communicate that vision with others.
• Champion change with others.
• Listen more effectively.
• Build stronger relationships.
• Mentor more effectively.
• Provide better feedback.
• Communicate more clearly.
• Use stories as a communication tool.
• Influence more successfully.
• Build and gain trust.
• Expand and strengthen your network.
• Coach powerfully.
• Create better customer focus and more delighted customers.
• Use the Law of Attraction as a leader.
• Generate more ideas.
• Solve problems more effectively.
• Make better decisions that are supported by others.
• Build teams.
• Diagnose how to help teams improve.
• Go beyond delegation to sharing responsibility.
• Lead projects.
• Create greater accountability.
• Facilitate meetings more effectively.
• Set team goals that get achieved.
If you were better at any one of these things would you be more effective?
What if you were able to, over time, become better at all of them (and much more)?
This book can deliver in these areas and many more . . . but only if you buy it and use the information inside.”
At last you can buy it now – just click on the image to enjoy a “Remarkable Day” – JF

From our leadership blog to yours and dozens of other sites this is Kevin’s day today. Quite remarkable how he has covered the net!
Great post, Jonathan. They also did an interview with Kevin over at Slacker Manager.
Jonathan – Thanks for posting such an informative post on Eikenberry’s new book. I’ve read reviews but it’s hard to tell what books are work investing time and money in with all the hype. I had planned on getting “Remarkable Leadership” since I like Kevin’s blog, but it was wonderful to read your excited review with nice details on what to expect.
Thanks Doug – I am receiving messages from Kevin every couple of hours or so to confirm his Amazon rankings – now in the Top 10 and rising! Harry Potter is looking over his shoulder. :-)
