While SM may be interesting, fun or useful, it does not hold the greatest thinking of the human race, or even of our times, but it does consume with a vengeance. It also dumbs down conversations so that thoughts are never fully developed. Plus, there is no way to guarantee the authenticity of the parties involved; one can only hope. I have only been on Facebook since January... though I can understand the issues identified in the article, my experience has been mostly positive. There is the constant concern, though, for me, of the amount of time that social media sites can consume without my even realizing it.
