Leadership for profit or not

December 2, 2005 by admin

Tom Peters writes about the similiaries in leadership ideas and approaches between the non-profit or public sectors and the private or for-profit sector — hitting home with the theme that leadership is leadership is leadership.  I definitely do not disagree!

I could well/may well spend more time in the future on the public and non-profit sectors, but I’d be surprised, even stunned, if my basic ideas and approaches changed much or at all.
I Disagree!

That’s what it is, leadership is leadership. People are people. Organizations are organizations. The main difference between for-profit and non-profit is the revenue model. Both still have products and services.

Tom Peters also said in that piece: I have carefully re-examined my work over the last quarter century, starting with In Search of Excellence, and I can find almost nothing that does not apply … one-for-one …. to the non-profit and public spheres.
