Touring the B5Media Business Channel
March 23, 2007 by admin
I’ve decided that a good way to end my first week blogging at Leadership Turn is to take you along on my tour of the other blogs in B5Media’s Business Channel. My only challenge is finding just the right tidbit to share with you from each blog, because there is such a wealth of information. But I will give it my best shot:
My first stop was Brendon Connelly’s blog, Slacker Manager. I’ve been a slacker, so I can appreciate the concept, for sure. Brendon has written a very thorough guide to Twitter. I had never heard of Twitter until now. It is a instant messaging platform for groups. Veeewy Interewesting. (wait, wrong bird!)
Next on my Business Channel blog tour is LifeDev written by Glen Stansberry. This article on concentrating on our strengths was something I really needed to read today. Thanks, Glenn. I had never thought about it that way. But you are so right.
Eric Eggerston’s blog Common Sense PR has a great article on riding the wave of attention while it last. I couldn’t agree more. You only have a short window of opportunity when your star is shining to leave a bright trail. I learned this week that Common Sense PR and Leadership Turn were picked up for syndication by Glam Media. Kudos, my fellow Business Channel blogger!
Brand Curve by Ron Elizondo was my next stop. I am just beginning to study the importance of branding, so I don’t know a lot about it. Looks like I found a new blog that is a must-read. I like it that Ron educates in an easy-to- understand style, no double-speak, just the facts, man.
I have already formed a sort of attachment to Benjamin Yoskovitz’s blog, Startup Spark. Maybe it’s because I started a business from scratch and ran it for ten years, an offline business, and am thinking of starting an online business. Anyway, Benjamin has this great article that anyone who is starting a business or considering it should definitely read, “The Five Most Common Mistakes Made by Startups.” Excellent article.
I am tickled pink to find Jim Norton’s blog, Small Business Boomers. That’s me, a boomer. I like Jim’s way of thinking in his article “Keep Learning, Keep Working.” I am right there with him. Getting old=giving up in my book. Never surrender!
Home Biz Notes was my next stop on my Business Channel blog tour. (I am so impressed by the quality of these blogs and the quantity of helpful information!) One perfect example of this is Mary Emma Allen’s advise on the importance of “Listening to Your Home Business Customers.”
Maricel Ferrer-Custodio, (that’s a mouth-full!) keeps us up-to-date and educated on the real estate market with his blog Property Crossroads. Check it out if you are into real estate, lots of great information there.
There truly is something for every reader at the Business Channel of B5Media. Contract Worker by Rico Mossesgeld is a blog for freelancers, (that’s me!) and another must-read. Just on the first page I saw three articles that interested me.
The next stop on my tour is Digital Money World written by Mark Herpel. My first thought when I clicked on Mark’s blog is how attractive the design is. The colors POP out at you. But the design is nothing compared to the depth of information Mark offers on handling money online, stuff that all online workers and business owners need to know.
I am winding up my tour of the B5Media Business Channel blogs with Business and Blogging written by Des Walsh. I saved it for last for a reason. I have only been blogging for a year, and only business blogging for 6 months, so I have a lot to learn. I think Des is one of those who can teach me. Already I have learned from his blog about Google Alerts and have set myself up to be alerted to articles on leadership and personal development so that I can keep abreast of what my colleagues have to say. Thank you, Des.
That concludes my tour of the Business Channel blogs of B5Media. I hope you have found some new favorite blogs to add to your Reader. I hope also that everyone has a wonderful weekend. Me? I will be learning how to use either Qumana or Live Writer. I didn’t know these blog editors existed.
See, I told you!
Later,
Denise

Great post, Denise. Great to see what other people in the channel like about their colleague’s blogs.
Thanks, Douglas. It was a treat. I am in very classy company. :)
Nice round-up of the Business Channel blogs, Denise. Thanks for mentioning Home Biz Notes.
You betcha, Mary Emma. It was my pleasure.
